83 300TD violent shake at idle

ok, I just purchased an 83 300TD Wagon, non running... I know, stop buying the defunct ones... anyway, I put in the key, flush out the fuel, and crank er up, and she starts, but violent shaking. I mean the bumper and fender shake really bad. if I rev up the motor, it sorta smooths out. but never like my other two 617's and when I push the stop lever, it STOPS@!!! solid like it was straining to keep running. what could this be? a faulty injector? badly adjusted valves? any assistance would be appreciated. I got this one for my mother to drive, she loved my 79TD and wanted one with the second row of rear seats.
Thanks everyone...
John

shakes

My 84 300cd shaked alot. I replaced the motor mounts and adjusted the idle speed up a little to 700 rpm. I think that's about normal. That helped me.

Adjust the valves, go from there. Its most likely past due anyway.

Compression test may reveal a weak cylinder.

Probably motor mounts. With it running crack loose one injector line at a time at the top of each injector. If the idle is affected evenly as each line is cracked then re tightened , then the injectors are probably ok. Loosening each line is like pulling each spark plug wire off a gasser. If the drop in RPM is the same line to line, then its firing on all 5.
