1987 300TD rear power windows don't go up

Hi All,

The rear power windows in my 300TD have stopped going up from the rear controls. The front controls, next to the driver's seat, still can make them go up. The back seat controls can only make them go down.

Do the power windows on these run off of the vacuum system? Could there be something wrong with that?

Thanks
Tim

No there's no vacuum, you've got a bad switch. The electricals in these are a POS. I had an 87 300D and I know. I had a similar problem with mine but it was the other way around. I could only close them. Sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't. I never liked my 87 I had so I got rid of it.
Good luck with your car.

I had an interesting thing happen with mine while I was in Florida. All 4 windows stopped working, and I checked the fuses for the windows and all were good. Well, the next day I noticed the wiper wasn't working either, so checked the fuse for it and the end was worn down, replaced the fuse and the wiper and windows worked! Strange how these cars are wired up.

Thanks, it's always good to know other people have the same issues.

Since the front controls work OK, I guess I'll live with it.

it could be the rear switches..

but don't rule out the drivers side saftey lock out button. the fact that it goes down may rule this out, but not necessarily. click the center button in and out several times, or just take it apart and clean all the gunk out of it with electrical spray. could solve it.
