How do I clear excess fuel from cylinder to prevent a Run Away engine?

The intake manifold is off for cleaning, new glow plugs, new injector return lines, and ALDA adjustment. While there I noticed that the intake ports in the head were gunked up also. I did a good job of cleaning them with a stiff plastic bristled brush, a tooth brush, and some WD40. Now I have WD40 in there...

I stuck rags down in and soaked up the puddles on the valves that were shut. I'm sure that I got WD40 into at least a couple of the cylinders.

How do I clear excess fuel from cylinder to prevent a Run Away engine?

I'm thinking of turning the engine over a few times with the secondary fuel filter unscrewed and with the glow plugs removed. Sound good?
