New to the maintenance of a Mercedes. How do you go about removing the center console/control panel. Want to put in a new radio.

Pull out ashtray, remove pair of phillips head screws
Yank misc storage deal Pull radio Brown - Ground Violet - Dimmer Red/white - constant 12v Black/white - switched This is off memory on the colors.

If you're trying to remove the factory stereo and it has little slots in the lower corners...
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=162972 You might want to remove the ashtray for better access to the wiring but it's optional if you can extract the stereo using the tools. Sixto 93 300SD
