Crazy cruise control
Had a new cruise amp put in my 300D 2.5T, as the old one was dead. Anyways, now my cruise works, kinda. When I'm driving down the freeway at say 60, I set the speed, the cruise floors it until about 66 mph or so, and holds it there by abruptly flooring it and then letting off to zero throttle, repeating every second or so. If I go past 65 or so and I set it, it'll floor it up to about 77, and hold it steadily without all the neck snapping action. What I don't get is why it doesn't hold the speed I set, it'll always go up to seemingly the nearest 5, (55, 65, 75, etc), and hold it there. The mechanic said the actuator might be getting ready to die, and I've read on here that when it goes it usually takes the amp with it.
Should I go to the junkyard and locate a couple spare actuators?

No ideas eh? The indy said the actuator was "slow". Could that be the cause? Maybe I should just find an actuator out of a junker and try it out.
The amp is brand new, so that shouldn't be it unless it's defective.

There are ways to test the actuator. It was a link to a web site, but I cannot remember the site. I found it doing a search for CC repair.
