As long as they are from the same body style, they are the same from front to back.

One additional note. Since I was just bringing a load of lumber home and had to fold the second seat I realized that the trim pieces that are placed in the MBTEX material on the seat bottom to store the headrests are different from the ones on the top of the seat. The bottom ones are round vs oval for the top units.

Gees, Can't get away with anything on this forum.
My headrests are all the same. My 82 parts book does not show a difference between headrests, only the shape of the headrest which is controled by the foam and cover. MBeige. If the headrest parts you show are from a factory equiped car then I am wrong. Having said that. My cars headrests are all the same and work well. Look good and I'm sticking with them:dizzy2: Dave |

I think for the wagon, they must be the same, but for the sedan with a more slanted rear seat, the bent rods must be installed. Then again I may be wrong. |

Yes, they did. In fact I saw a w116 that had rear headrests also have the bent rods. That's why I was wondering if they were the same bent rods on a factory-equipped w123 sedan/coupe. I know the wagon needs that space so maybe they have the standard headrests.
I'll wait for others to chime in what they know about this. The headrests aren't all that hard to switch to the bent/straight rods anyway. |
Could be that for the sedan the bent rods were necessary to position the headrest correctly and in the wagon the front seat headrests are used.

Now here's a stumper- do non third row back seats with no head rests have the capacity to add headrests by making a hole and adding the headrests?

What's interesting about mine is that the wagon with the factory 3rd row seat has two rear seat headrests, not three like I've seen on other wagons. -Tad |

If you can find a donor car for the seat, or purchase it from the dealer ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$) Find 3 used headrests for the second row seats. Go to the dealer and buy the headrest receiver kits to install in the 2nd row seats. The seats are ready to have the receivers pop riveted in place. Cut the material and install the trim fro the poles. And your done. Dave |
So I find a yard wagon with the receivers in the seats, take them out and install them in my seats. Then I find or buy the headrests... are they the same as the front seats headrests?
|
There is a kit available from MB for the rear headrest mounting for the wagons. I think it's $98 each, more than $62 each for the sedan mounting kit. You'll need two, or three.
The headrest cushion is the same, but the rods are what we're trying to figure out. See quote: Quote:

The picture I've included show a euro model with the back seat headrests in the photo. The bars are different in the sedan. So for a wagon. Get 3 more front seat headrests. The straight pole, not the bent pole. Dave |
