Right & left engine mounts

Have replaced a number of engine mounts over the years, but cannot tell them apart by looking. What is the difference between them, and why the large dollar differential? Am I missing something here?

Thx

sorry 124 & 210 606 diesels

Last time I did a 210, they both looked the same, but had different part numbers. Really could not tell them apart, and had to keep track of the boxes or it would have been and easy reversal.

The exhaust manifold is on the right, and the intake manifold on the left.

Just to clarify, left and right as you're stood in front of the car, looking at the radiator grille.

Over here we say offside (driver) and nearside (passenger), I don't know if you guys do the same I blame you lot driving on the wrong side of the road

Parrot - You've got those mounts backward. The part descriptions used are as if you were the driver facing forward.

The booted mount goes on the left side (passenger side in your case); drivers side for the rest of the forum who drive on the correct side of the road.

Not sure what difference it makes as they appear identical visually; although there may be internal differences.

Engine mounts are different because the engine rotates and places more war on one side than the other. While I do not know in the MB case- but many engine mounts are side specific and they ahve different durometers- IE they are different in "softness" ratings.

That is incredibly annoying. I have 3017 underneath the intake manifold, and the one with the rubber bits near the turbo.

Dammit.
