Oil question

Does anybody else with an OM606 engine notice that oil vapours tend to collect and pool around the injectors, most often at the back of the engine?

I'm quite certain its oil and not diesel as its yellow and smells like oil. Its not harming anything, but it does seem a little bit odd.

Also, I need to do an oil change. Whats the recommended oil these days, when last I did it (10,000 miles ago) I used 5W-40 fully synthetic.

you have yellow oil???? after pouring oil in my motor, it is INSTANTLY black. I find it hard to believe anything yellow leaking from your motor would be motor oil, unless you spilled it when putting it in.
are the 606 engines that much cleaner running?

I suspect you are talking about fumes from the CCV beneath the injector covering. The cover traps those vapors that escapes the valve.

You've got lots of oil choices in Europe; is much more difficult to find an oil specifically on the approved list here.

I previously used Mobil 0w40 Euro Blend in mine until Mobil changed around all thier labels a few months ago. Am using Shell Rottela T 5w40 Syn currently.

Search here for the approved oil list. MB229.5 and rememebr you need a min of CG4/CH4 desiel rating. I think they are up to CI4 now. You of course need a full syn oil too.

J, you'll have many choices of 229.5 oil in the UK. It should be quite common: ELF, Motul, Pentosin, LM, Castrol, etc.
