CHEAP oil change!!!!!
We recently had a new Chevy dealership open a few miles from work. Their management team decided to send an oil change coupon for $9.95 out to all the local businesses. The coupon has no expiration date, encourages people to duplicate it and it doesn't have a clause that excludes diesel's!!!! So I called them up and asked if they could get the 81 300SD in today and they said no problem. The service writer said they loose an average of $3 per car with the coupon. My total bill came up to $84.15 and with the coupon I paid a whopping $11.26!!! What a huge mistake......I bet they think twice before putting out any more coupons( or at least proof read them better)!!! Oh, they used Delvac and a Napa filter.

Yeah! It's nice to see that sometimes the consumer can win at a dealership!
There are some people that will buy a car while waiting for the oil change, so it can pay off for the dealer as well.

Quite a few ears ago, I took advantage of a $8.99 automatic transmission service offer. I watched the mechanic remove the transmission pan, then take it into a back room. When he emerged, he showed me that the magnet in the pan was covered with metal filings, stating that my transmission needed an immediate overhaul. I felt the filings. They were bone dry. (In other words, he sprinkled the filings on the magnet when he took the pan into the back room.) When I declined the overhaul, the manager was summoned. He explained how lucky I was that they caught the problem just in time; said I probably would not make it home if I did not get the overhaul. Apparently he was wrong. I sold the car 60k miles later and never had the first problem with the transmission. It was quite obvious that their motive was to turn every $8.99 service job into an overhaul. (Upselling, as it is now called.) And the real tragedy is that folks probably did not even get an overhaul when they paid for one. |
