throttle control?
I have an engine from a 1976 240D and am retrofiting it into a clarke forklift. I have the fuel lines connected properly im sure, but it wont run. It is getting fuel but I'm not sure about the timing or the throttle control. I'm not sure how the throttle, shutoff and emmisions controls are suppose to be connected. If anyone could help me with this creation that would be great.

Skip the emissions stuff. You will have to design some sort of linkage for the "throttle" just make sure that you can still operate the emergency shutoff button and that the linkage can move its full travel.
It should still start even without the throttle connected (make sure it is at idle and not full though). Have you checked the glow plugs?

Basket case
thank you for your help!!
keep in mind the car itself has long since been recycled(scraped) good car, just not in great condition when we got it (looks like someone drove it through a deep ditch). So just to be sure the shut off is the lever at the ODE of the injector pump with the linkage to the air butterfly. I wasnt sure if the diaghram assembly at the ODE of the injector pump not being connected properly would cause it not to run. also which position should the throttle lever be for idle? thanks again !! |

sorry if i have offended anyone for scraping my mercedes. We had every intention of restoring it but when we got into repairing the floor we found that the frame was badly kinked so we had to make the decission. We salveaged the engine, transmission, shifter linkage, rear end, seats and emblems. If the car had been straight I would be driving it right now but unfortunately that wasnt the case. I am a big fan of the older mercedes diesels especially but it didnt work out at that point. Currently I drive a diesel jetta which is on the same track, not a classic but a well put together car.
thanks again for all your help! |
