Driver's entry lighting

I know I've seen articles on it but have yet to find the answer in either my manuals or here.

My driver's side entry light doesn't. All of the other doors will turn on the interior lights. I think (if I remember correctly) that it has something to do with the key in ignition alarm (which also does not work), but I cannot find the wiring diagram.

This care is the 87 SDL. Thanks.

Those door jamb switches like to cause problems also.

I hate to suggest something obvious, but have you checked that the wires are in good shape where they plug into the light, the condition of the contacts/bulb holders, and the bulb itself?

On mine, the bulb holder contacts were worn/corroded through, and when I pulled it out of the door, it fell apart in my hand.

Tomorrow, barring rain, I'll check the switches in the door jam and go from there. The 'lighting' I refer to is the entire interior lighting. When opening the driver's door, nothing comes on. When opening the passenger side door, the interior lights all come on, same as both rear doors.

Sure would be sweet if it was the switch, but I'm really doubtful.

My next project will be getting the cruise control working again.

Especially since they work with the passenger door, check the door switch. These MB switches get a little sticky and sometimes don't fully release. I had the same problem with my parking brake warning light (it uses the same switch as the door). Taking it apart, cleaning it and lubing it with a bit of graphite (it's all I had) seemed to cure the problem.

I had that problem with one of my rear doors, left - no lights, right- lights came on fine Pulled out on the plunger of the left switch when the door was open, on came the lights. So I squirted some electrical contact cleaner stuff into the switch and it has worked great ever since.

I disabled the door switch on mine because I wanted to listen to the radio while the door was open. I got irritated by the warning sound playing along with my music.

Apparently not the switches. I pulled both, and checked the voltage and nothing on either. (One should have voltage....) anyway, disconnected the switches and checked them individually and they checked OK> I did find the wiring diagram and the only thing left in the circuit is either the power or ground wire to the anti-theft.
Oh, the key warning has never worked either (at least from the open drivers door.)
