Question Clogged exhaust like Benz

Well today my 84 300D started doing something that reminded me of olden days when my catalytic converter stopped up on my pickup truck...I line about 5 miles from my mother-in-laws house. Was going there for Christmas early supper tonight...Got about half way there, speed started dropping, no matter how far down I went on the pedal. I pulled over, got out checked under hood didn't see anything wrong...Got back in, went a little ways started doing same thing....Finally got to my in-laws doing 20 mph at best.....We ate supper, left got about halfway home again, same thing started happening....When I left in-laws car ran fine, had plenty of power, etc....No problems at all....I'm running a mix of dino diesel, kerosene and filtered wvo.....If my filter was getting clogged why would it be ok for a few miles after having the car cut shut off for a while???? Any ideas on what might cause this???? Never seen a diesel do this before.....

thats interesting.. are you heating your veggie?

something i read over on infopop is that when diesel is mixed with veggie it creates a wax like residue that collects in the filter.

and perhaps your tank screen is getting clogged

Question

Not heating it at all. And have been running a mix like this of veggie, kerosene and dino diesel for a couple months now...Today is first sign of trouble..Car has been running great even at temps in the 30's...I changed out primary and secondary filters about 2 weeks ago. Primary filter wasn't bad but chnaged it anyways, secondary looked like it was original one that came on car..Didn't know history of car, so wanted to know when it was changed....I wonder if since I don't have the flex pipe from the air cleaner to the boot located on top of the headlights, could the engine be sucking in water through the air cleaner??? It has been rainy here about all day, and one road I have been on has some puddles....

i wouldnt worry about that flex pipe... i go through big puddles all the time.. if you sucked in enough water you would bend a rod..

is yours a federal version or does it have the cali emmissions

Could be clogged injectors from the VO? I'd probably run diesel purge pretty often if I were doing straight COLD veggie oil .

don't forget to check the valve cover bolts that hold down the throttle linkage. that is what my TD was doing, and the bolts had come loose and the plate moved instead of the rack advancing.

Most likely your getting a wax with mixing the veggie with diesel. Ive had it happen on the 300SD once before and it clogged the fuel filter. Eventually i pulled the injectors and found all of them coked up with carbon and decided not to run wvo blends ever again in the car.

Heat the oil if you dont want fouled up injectors. And if you dont believe it will happen i can show you the pics of the carboned up injectors.

I would check the fuel filters first.
Secondly, I would get a heated fuel filter at least. WVO needs to be heated.

also could be bacterial mass in the fuel. in this case biocide would help.

Sounds to me like a stopped up fuel tank vent. Next time it happens, remove the fuel cap, put it back on and drive some more to see if it helps. If it does, check the vent system.

Sounds like the vent. Dont think its injecters if it runs well after a sit . Could be air getting in lines, have you checked? They tend to break down with veggie if not repalced.

If you think it's the vent, just pop open the fuel tank cap.

Filters are cheap. I'd replace the filter. Takes about 2 minutes.
