In progress pics of my '79 240D

Just figured I'd share some pics of my 240D, in the middle of it's repaint.
Before

Looks good, but the picture hides all the faded paint, and all the damage on the pass. side (PO got real intimate with a gaurdrail)
Pre primer

Primed

Painted (still needs wet sanding, a few more coats of paint, and 3-5 coatsof clear)

Alos just figured I'd throw in a couple pics of the work in progress audio install.
Trunk

Rear deck speaker enclosures

Any comments are greatly appreciated.
-Zach

Looks good.

I'm partial to the original color though.

Still want those hubcaps?

Thumbs up

Would you be so kind to share how you removed the metal trim on top of the doors? Not the chrome along the roof.

The trim around the top of the window? Or along the bases of the windows? The trim aournd the tops I left on and just masked over, I think it may come off but I didn't want to risk it. The trim along the bases of the windows simply pry's right up (in the rear) and up front it pry's up once the mirrors (or in my case mirror) have been removed.

I have my entire garage tarped off and heated (40K BTU propane heater, turned off once I start spraying.)
Heres what it looked like in there.

The trunk is going to get finished up, I'm in the process of making a birch panel that will go behind my amps, cap, etc. Hiding alll the wiring behind the panel (mounted over the original metal piece). I had two pieces that go over the wheel wells, and another two that go over the two little storage areas on the sides, making a completely flat trunk floor. The whole trunk will probably be redone in black carpeting, the greys just not working for me, but it was cheap and at the time all I had. The rear deck eclosure still needs some finishing sanding and maybe another coat of bondo (to tell the truth, there atually made out of MDF, shop rags, spray foam, and a few coats of filler.

As far as amps, I would recommend, depending on your budget, Alpine, PPI (Precision Power) or JL audio, on the higher end of the price range, and on the lower end I would go with Hifonics (mainly higher power stuff) Phoenix Gold, Kenwood, or Kicker. Personally I would avoid stuff like Sony, Audiobahn, and Bazooka at all costs, because unless you buy and amp with almost twice the power you really want, chances are it will come up short on power.
