Not a problem. I did order the reg assy. and will put that on tomorrow....weather permiting. I also checked the voltage @ the battery with high beams on and only came up with 12.2vdc.....that tells me the reg may solve it.......I hope

12.2 VDC is way too low if the engine was running when you checked the voltage...you should be above 13.5 VDC....

UPDATE: replaced reg.assy. and check voltage.....13.8VDC at battery with high beams on, pulse gone .
My best quess after looking at the brushes is that 1 is worn down way too far, making only occasional contact.....pulse.

I have done alot of auto work for myself over the years but on gas only(american) and since I have gotten the MB, it never ceases to amaze me the thought that went into the engineering of this car. A $30. fix as compared to $100.+ for a new alt. I am ignorant on all the in's and out's of these but the more I do .......the more I like.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE HELP
