how do i replace rings on fuel filter?

I have a 1982 W123 300CD. My fuel filter has been leaking for a while now. I replaced it, but it kept leaking. I ordered new rings for it. I got a copper crush washer and a small black rubber O-ring. Now I can't figure out where they go. Can someone tell me exactly how to install them?
