Does anybody know the correct torque for the oil pan bolts (not the drain plug)? The Haynes manual seems to say 30 - 52 ft-lbs. unless I'm reading it wrong. This seems way too high. Thanks.

depends on what vehicle you're talking about

edit: just noticed the 82SD in your sig., but I don't have the manual for that one. On the 603 engine the bolts are either 10 or 25, depending on which size bolt you are talking about (there are 2 different types).

Definatly not 52 ft lbs. I just did them about as tight as I could using my alan wrench. Say 30 lbs * 6 inches = 15 ft lbs

Thanks. At least I'm not crazy. I don't know where the Haynes manual came up with that number. I tried 30 lbs. at first and probably spun 1 bolt before I realized there's no way that number was right. I ended up setting it at 10 ft-lbs. (by bolts use a 5mm allan wrench)
