Can I open heater valve manually? servo shot, i'm cold!

Mine is a 1978 300CD, and the climate control servo is out, fuse removed b/c it was draining my battery. I need heat and defrost, and hope that I can manually open a valve giving me hot air. Possible? Thanks for your feedback-
Chris

try to unplug the electrical connection on the heater valve on the passenger side fire wall, but this will make your vent air ALWAYS hot.

Your 78 won't have the 'heater' valve (monovalve).

You will probably need to install a manual ball valve or something like that and then bypass the servo by disconnecting the water lines and connecting them together. This new valve would be on in cold weather and off in warm. Not as nice as automatic systems when they work, but sure beats freezing.

Not sure what you will need to do about the fuse, does it prevent the heater fan from operating?
