Does your boost go up in the winter?
For all of you with boost gauges, do you notice your boost going up in the winter? I took a road trip yesterday and its been the coldest one I have made since I have installed my boost gauge. I looked at my boost gauge and it read about 8 to 9 psi of boost at 70mph. During the summer it only reaches about 7 psi .

hmm. odd I thought the normal boost at speed would be around 8 or 9... maybe you have a bad wastegate that has a problem in the summer... colder air is more dense. maybe that has something to do with it.

More oxygen in cold air and it is more dense, thus slightly more boost (quicker) and better performance. When its 30F or less outside my car can rip some pavement, I love the performance in the cold!
 Boost builds quicker...more oxygen = more complete burn in the cylinders = more powerI noticed it today, I was able to accelerate VERY briskly, had lots of torque feel, it is presently about 25F out.

Nope, it is always 8-9 PSI.

Winter fuel has Kero mixed in which has less energy per gallon than diesel. Takes more fuel to get the same power which makes more exhaust gasses.
So yes, boost will probably go up 1-2psi in the winter.

My new turbo puts out 15 psi. I'll let you know if it goes up this summer.
