126 winshield wipers what is the problem?

I have read tons here about the difficulty of finding wipers that don't squeek or chatter/miss parts of the window etc... my bocsh wipers were shot, and it was about to rain... so I went into the local wallyworld and got the best replacement they had. the RainX 21" blade, about 9.00 each side. they worked perfect! no chattering, no streaking or squeeking. I have had them for two weeks now, and they seem to be doing great. we have had freezing rain, mist, fog, and heavy rain, bulletproof action, except for the freezing rain... kinda built up on the wipers during that, but I don't think ANYTHING could handle that...

Give them some more time. My last set of Autozone Bosch wipers lasted a couple of weeks to.

Well lets see, maybe you found a brand that holds up. Paying $50 for a set of the special Bosch wipers gets old.

I have the rainx wipers from when autozone had them on sale for free after rebates. They work great. (might have something to do with the rainx I have applied to the windshield tho)

I bought some rainx, but have not put any on the window. I thought I would run the wipers plain for a few months and see how they well they work first.

A friend got fed up with constant wiper problems on his 126SD. Cured it by taking the passenger wiper arm off. His reasoning was the drivers wiper wiped a large section of dry windshield, and soon wore it out.

Keep putting rainx on and dont use your wipers.... if ya do it only pulls the rainx off anyways. I love the stuff. i just drove my 84 wagon across the rainy state and the wipers sucked so bad it was silly. But the blades are toast, and the car's been sitting for nearly a year. New battery and one glow- fired right up

I also have one set of chattering wipers, all three are Bosch ICON's. "A" for drivers side, "B" for passenger side. Rainx on the '82, smooth, unknown on '83, yet acts like it, smooth, no Rainx on '84, that's the one that chatters. Use 21" on drivers, 22" on passenger.

Thumbs up

I've been using the cheapo Anco ones (Federal Mogul) seem to work for a while then they streak.

I know that 0000 steel wool helps to clean the windshield (do it maybe every six months, like claybar on your paint). And apparently a few drops of dish soap helps keep it clear

ok, had REALLLY heavy rain here yesterday, NO streaks, and no Squeaks! still going strong with the new RainX 21" wipers!
youse guys keeps telling me they gonna streak or squeak, soon, I keep waiting.
so far, 8.99 seems better than 28.99+shipping for Bocsh!

I must be missing something. When you compare 8.99 for Rain-X versus 28.99 are you comparing a blade to a wiper assembly?

Bosch Inserts are readily available on-line for less than $10.00 for a two pack.
