240D Vbelts
Do you need to remove the fan to change the v-belts on a 240D?

nope.
just everything else...assuming it's similar to the 617 accessory system. the belt for the wp will fit over the fan, but if you are changing the alt or a/c belts, the other belts have to come off first. John

There is enough clearance between the fan and the fan shroud to get the belts out.
If you are replacing the alternator belt, be sure to get the exactly correct replacement - such as available from FastLane. The 240D belt is not the same as the 300D belt, for example. The reason you want to do this is to prevent alternator slippage under electrical load, to promote the proper wear life, and to avoid belt adjuster limits (should the wrong replacement be slightly too long or short).
