Been throught the archives and still can't find the engine number on my 92 300D 2.5T. After 260K miles, I broke the spring for the poly belt tensioner and need the engine number to select the correct new one. Virtually all of the block is covered with accessories, injection pump, or manifold on the driver's side! There's a 1/2" X 1-1/2" flat spot on the block directly behind the fuel filter housing, but it doesn't seem to have anything on it unless the stamping is very light and I haven't cleaned it thoroughly enough.
