Rear Wheel Bearing

I need to replace a rear wheel bearing and was wondering if anyone knows what is involved in the job. I searched the forum and also just read today's post by Darkman regarding rear wheel bearings . I was out driving on the highway today and felt a few random clunks in the rear end, by the time I got 3 km's and got off the highway the sound was an unbearable squealing, screecking and growling...got a tow home and took the tire off...definately a wheel bearing, with the driveshaft removed the hub grinds and gets loose then tight while turning, also wiggles. I plan on getting the special tool but is there anything else involved that may be too much for a DIY repair?

thanks
