C-Class CDI anyone?

Read in Autoweek that the new C-Class due in August will have the Bluetec CDI, and it will be available in the US. With a little searching on UK Google, I found this:

http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/car-reviews/car-and-driving/mercedes-c320-cdi-1002977.html

0-60 in 6.9
155mph top speed
27mpg city, 37mpg combined, 47mpg highway
Yours for a base of $32,000

Sounds good to me; one hell of a commuter.

If they made a c220 cdi or c320 cdi in either manual or auto, I would buy any of those....it'd be awesome!!

Several times a year I contact a salesmans that I like at the Fort Wayne, IN Merc dealership. I always mention that a C-Class 4Matic diesel wago would be nice. Every time he has told me that he has yet to see Mercedes mention marketing a C-Class diesel in the US.

I would be interested in a C-Class CDI for $32,000. The ML320CDI is the cheapest new MB diesel at $44,455 for the time being with the R320CDI only $320 more.

where are you finding the base price of $32K? the ad showed £31.5, not dollars, that would equate to what $41K right?

Darn currency conversion. $40,824 not much value there.

Correct, but the C-Class sells for $32k here in the US. According the MBs own track record, the diesel shouldn't cost much more than the gasser.

when you do a price calculation take the price in germany or france and substract 23% (automobile tax and sales tax) and convert to dollars...

A c220cdi should be around 27k and c320cdi should hit 32-34k if they were sold in the USA.

That would be awesome... If they announce it ever. I am at the dealership in the hour!!!
