Interesting. Most of the big vans I've seen in the USA have been personal campers.

That thing is awesome. Ultimate truck to pickup cars with.

Imagine buying a "needs motor" W123 and towing it home with that rig.

Ha! The reason it only has 26k miles on it is that if you ran it flat out on the interstate from 1976 until now, that's about the total number of miles you'd have been able to travel. I think the top speed on those is around 55-57mph if I'm not mistaken. Seller doesn't give a lot of info. I wonder how it ended up over here. If that's a 407d on the side, it's a 616 engine. The '4' means a 4 ton truck.

Its slow as hell and if I remember right it
doesn't have power steering so its a *****
to turn.

When I was living in Belguim my boss had a
full size van like that and that thing was a
dog but it was a gasser, still slow.

I always found them to be fugly.
Surpriced to see them here in the US though.

Louis.

I think they were, in part developed for the West German military and NATO, as well as for Agricultural applications.......have been around in many variations for quite a few years......

They make great Hummer extractors.....

This is my dream vehicle.....when I hit the lottery.....would be the best way to do the infield at any NASCAR race.....

Nope, a 'mog is something completely different but, nevertheless, that unit needs to be at my farm.

Ha. My parents would love that. My dad bought something similar to a small delivery truck with an NA Chevy diesel V8 in it for camping. Even though it'd be dog slow, he wouldn't care. He's the kind of person that'd take a 240D manual everything over a 300D with all the goodies, just for the simplicity of the 240D.

So this thing has a 616? I'm surprised it can even reach 55 mph!

It'll get to 55, but you'll be at your destination before it reaches it

Definately a right-lane truck.

That would be a sweet ride if the rust was taken care of and a OM616.952 was dropped in. $8k for a very slow delivery vehicle is a little steep.
