Strange smoking/no power problem
This is on my 83 300SD. After the car has been driven some and then parked for a couple hours, if I go back out and try to drive it somewhere it has no power for the first little bit and produces a lot of smoke from the exhaust. I mean a LOT. If I floor it, it will slowly go up in RPMs until it hits a certain point and then it will drive fine the rest of the day. Is this something I should be worried about? I'd just like to know what's causing it...
Thanks!

First, check all the filters.
Also. please give a step by step description of the problem, like the car sits over night, or was it run then stopped. Are you using pump diesel or an alternative. Does the car run rough before, during or after? How does it idle? Etc.

I have similar issue. If you have done the filters and vavle adj, check your timing chain stretch and IP timing. I'll be interested to see what works for you.
