A/c fan button popped off, how to get back on?
My middle fan button, the 'auto' setting, popped off. I tried to glue it once before, but was trying to be very careful, as it's sloped to the back; I'm afraid glue will drip down behind the switch onto some electrical components.
How can I get this back without ruining anything. I think the only solution is construction adhesive caulking, it's really thick stuff. The only bummer is, the plastic rod the button has to hold onto, is only 1/8" of grabbing space. Thanks, Jeff 1991 300d, 101k |

Go to a boneyard and pull the button off of another car. It can be any of the same-size buttons on the CCU, sounds like one of the two little spring-bars in the white retainer piece cracked. You can pull the white piece out of another button if you remove it carefully.

My piece appears to be fine
My button appears to be just fine. Are you talking about the button, or the white piece that's on the console?

The white rectangular piece snaps into the button, then the whole thing is pressed down over the shaft of the switch ass'y. I did break one of the white pieces removing it from the shaft, haven't had the snaps from the button to the white piece break.
If the black button needs to be attached to the white piece, the white piece slides inside of the button, shouldn't need much glue if the snaps are broken.
