Angry Car won't start please help!

I have a 1990 MB 350SDL. I've been having a hard time starting it lately. I have to hold the key down for at least 30 seconds before it will and now i cant start it at all. I dont know if maybe i need a new fuel filter or something else is wrong. Has anybody else had this problem. Please help.

Bad glow plugs would be the first thing to check if the engine is turning over but not starting. If you mean, by holding the key down for 30 seconds, that it takes that long for the starter to engage, you need to look at wiring or starter problems.

Almost certain there is a problem in the glow plug circuit by your description. Read all the postings in the archives that relate to glow plugs. Diesel giant has a good tutorial as well.

Your owner's manual may have a section which explains that behavior of the glow plug light.
