Blue book value of '99 E300 Turbo?

Car is in shop - thinking about unloading after fix. Can anybody tell me what I can expect for trade in price on the '99 E300 Turbodiesel with 116,000 miles on it? It is in good, but not excellent shape, always maintained properly though. Blue Book on line says it is worth about $14,400 but I have forgotten how much a car dealer would offer for it in trade in.

This is the car that overheated? Are you sure you want to get rid of it? E300s are a pain to maintain but are also wonderful to drive... I think you should try for at least $16k with your miles; I paid $19,000 two years ago for mine when it had 128k on the clock. Not sure what kind of condition yours is in...mine was (and still is) in excellent shape...

What would you get to replace it? E320 CDI? I've seen their prices dropping .....

Yeah - it is the overheater with the now diagnosed headgasket failure. I really jumped on it hard getting it out of the ice mess my wife drove into. I was thinking about the Passat TDI '06 or something. Don't think I'll do a CDI or the Bluetech thing until all the bugs are worked out - could be years.

Unfortunately there is no car as a TDI Passat 06, Yes in 05 they still had them..Good luck finding an 06 diesel of any sort with a VW nameplate...or grab one while they are still available!

I can feel your pain, an E300 is such a great car to lose. The new Passat is nice, but prices for the CDIs are seriously dropping...I saw one for $29,000 last week, and they're much more powerful and a lot nicer than the Passat. I wouldn't be afraid with CDI technology, it's been around since 2000 (I think) and has been pretty well-proven. Not so sure about the Bluetec, however.
