Anyone in Birmingham want to do me a flavor?

There are a few parts at a local salvage yard I need inspected and photographed. I'll pay $ for your time. PM me if you are interested.

I loved the salvage yard, but now I can't remember what the name was. I want to make the 2 hour trip down there tomorrow, but would like to know that they are still there before I go. Do you have the name or contact info handy?

Jim,

Are you familiar with Mid-Tenn European in Manchester right off 24? They're back a ways off the exit on the same road as that KOA campground and railroad museum. Mid-Tenn, by far, has the largest collection of '70s, '80s, and '90s Mercedes cars and last I knew they were a true pick and pull where you could wander back there for hours and nobody would say a word. The majority of their cars had not been overly picked-over by other scavengers last I was there. They are pretty reasonable too. James and Jimmy have been there for at least twenty years and know just about every part to most every vintage Mercedes.

I tried finding them today also but only could remember that there was a yard somewhere in Manchester! Thanks for the details.

Lots of MB, friendly, but EXTREMELY proud of his parts. I passed on a bunch of parts I need today. He just wants too much for them.

I got a tail light assembly for my 1985 Audi 5000 there way back when.

I found the address.

756 Campground Road
Manchester, TN

I can't find a phone number. Never mind! Our posts crossed on the web!

Winmutt,

Any idea of the name or phone number of the one in Birmingham? They were really easy to work with. Good prices also.

-Jim

I think the one in B'ham is out Cahaba Valley Rd. to the West. Just doesn't ring a bell with a name.

It is actually right here:

http://maps.yahoo.com/beta/#lon=-86.815284&lat=33.559358&mag=2

Put it on hybrid and you will clearly see the building and junkyard.

I just can't remember the name or the phone number.

It would make sense that most yards in Birmingham are on the North side in the industrial area. I used to live on Lake Martin and remembered that there is a German specific yard in Cahaba. It was a good eight maybe ten miles out to the west of I-65. I was last there in about '02 maybe. At that time there were roughly two dozen 124's and as many 126's. Oddly there were only a few 123s. Even more oddly, were two G-wagens ('80's vintage) sitting in the office/showroom. Cahaba's been so overly built up in recent years, I'd be surprised if a plot of townhouses were built in its place.

There's a shop in Auburn, on Opelika Road that had (probably still does) an old Diesel-powered G-wagen sitting outside begging for a home. It was pretty rough, too, though free of rust.
