85 CA IP on an 83 Fed will it work (W123 turbos)

I have an opportunity to get an 85 CA Injection Pump for a really good price. I'm wondering if this pump could be used in a federal 83 model?

I do not see why it would not work, but there will be others that can say otherwise.

I know that it will bolts on fine, but the 85 has an electrical idle control unit bolt on the right hand side if you look directly from the front of the car just wondering how it functions

Yes it will work. The '85 will have a electronic rack position sensor that has no effect in the IP's operation and you will leave disconnected the cable that belongs to it. Also, when installing it on the '83 you may encounter the factory timing marks will be off, so don't go by them.

Again it is not an idle control. It is a "rack position sensor" that leads to the EGR computer located on the '85 on the passenger side kick panel for emissions purposes only.

Buy a idle adjustment cable assembly from a 240D and throw it in.
