Rear Door won't stay up 300TD
OK...last thread of the day, I promise...
is the rear door/hatch hydraulic or spring loaded? Somebody crammed a lot of grease up in there and in addition to not staying up, it is leaking. I think this is due to the grease leaking onto the gasket and hardening, causing a gap in the gasket.

Rear hatch uses struts. One on each side.

It's hydraulic.
Replace the hydraulics - they wear out.

What could I tell you? They're hidden in the headliner. You cannot see them. Look at the hinge assembly a little closer.
I just did mine two weeks ago, took about 2 hours. Easy job, just take your time and don't try to cut any corners (remove every piece of trim that is even moderately in your way). A search reveals this: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=52422&highlight=wagon+hatch+struts
