Best options for replacement battery on 1996 E300D

Battery is getting weak. Is there a general replacement battery that works best? The battery that is in it does not look to be the correct size.

I was quoted around $140 for an OEM one. Reckon if it gets weak, I'll try OEM, since most $50-60 brands only last five years.

FWIW, I bought my E300D in 2002...came with an interstate "megatron" 72 month battery...it is still going strong. The newest version of the battery for the E300D is now warranted for 85 months. $115 suggested price from manufacterer.

I just got the MB one for $120. I called 1800 For Merc and had them come install it for me. Good for the tech who makes $75 and good for me since I don't have to do anything and just BS with the tech.

I've got a Sears Diehard that's been in there for 4 years, I think it was in there for 2 years prior too from the previous owners. And it still cranks strong and I've even left the dome light on for 24 hours before and it didn't make a difference.

Nice to have the huge batteries these cars are equipped with eh.

Should have done that when my OEM battery went belly up on me three weeks ago just to use the service. Instead, my mom (who was with me at the moment) insisted that we get a jump because of all the stuff we had to get done that day. We happened to be parked in a grocery store parking lot that was right next to a Chevy dealer. Their service department graciously offered the use of their jump box, and we headed down to MB of Tacoma to get a new battery. On the upside, I did get to look at (but not touch ) a black SLR in the showroom, and a brand new E320 Bluetec. Think it was already sold too...

The issue here is whether those batteries from other places have a vent or vent properly since I know the 99 E300 and I assume the 96 has the battery in the rear seat area. If it doesn't have a proper vent, it could be bad.
