Why did my Trans puke out fluid?
I drained my transmission, including the torque convertor, and re-filled it today. When I was adding the fluid with the car turned off, as I got to about the 6th quart, I heard a big "Glug." I looked under the car and saw fluid dripping from underneath with a big puddle on the driveway.
I took the car for a drive, got it up to temp. and checked the fluid level. It was dead on where it should be. Why did it spit out the fluid?

That's about right. Add only what the pan holds-maybe 3-4 quarts then start the car & add the rest. If you drained the converter, it has to be running in order for it to suck it out of the pan, Paul.

I did mine today too....drained the whole entire thing, changed the filter and gasket, and refilled. I put in 5qts....0 leaks.....then I started it up, and added a couple more, then filled it to the proper level. Worked great. I did have it on ramps though, otherwise it'd have probably leaked some out. On level ground you can only add 4qts...then the rest with it running.

Im hoping the same thing with mine. Dropped pan and converter fluid. I did refill with engine running but only at idle. Few days later it was a little shy. Hopefully that will be all.

Thanks for the answers. I figured it was something simple like that. Where did the fluid exit? Is there some vent on top to the tranny?
