HELP! First gear just went out
This morning without warning I got in my car and pushed the gas. The engine reved and the car barely moved. It is like this in first gear only.
At some points (mainly when shifting up or down from or to first gear) it holds just fine. This makes me think it is related to something having to do with a holding member or a gear switching device. It also makes a pulsating whooping noise that matches the speed of the car. It has been doing this for about 3 years or more (in first gear only). If my trany is screwed any ideas how i can force it into second gear, so i can get to work etc. until i have the time to install another transmission.

I'm pretty sure B2 is the band engaged in first gear. Search for B2 piston there is an upgrade piston. The old ones cause a delay engaging in forward gear. Maybe it is now totally gone. Phil can get you what you need.

Yup, sounds like a B2 piston failure. Do a search and you'll find a boat full of info.

I did a search a few hours ago and did come across a lot of B2 posts. I ordered parts for next day delivery. God i hope my car can make it to work and back until the part comes in.
