Whatever happened to HYLOMAR?

Autozone, Pep Boys, Shucks all seem to have pulled HYLOMAR from their inventory.
I really loved the stuff. It was great for cylinder head gaskets and even the problematic Rotary Engine seals. NASA originally developed it and Permatex got the patent and manufactured it.

Does anyone know about HYLOMAR? Does anyone know its fate?

I was lead to believe, Hylomar was developed by Rolls-Royce for use on the Merlin Aircraft-Engine of WWII fame--Stuff has been around for donkey's years....

Anyway, As far as I know, its still available over here in the UK....

Here is the deal, I talked to many many places about the hylomar stuff a week or so ago to try and get some for a rally car I am working on. It seems that the only company to make the stuff in the UK wants to be the only distributor of the stuff world wide and so is charging permatex 30+ buck a tube up from 3 a tube about a year ago. Thats permatex price not ours. Permatex is trying to work out a deal and said that they should have it back on the shelves in another 6 months at close to the old price, but we have to wait for it.

I went to and called every place I could to try and find some on the shelf, and the only place to have it was a BMW motorcycle shop. Its great stuff if you can find it.

Is this stuff commonly known as "Aircraft Sealant"? I've never heard of HYLOMAR.
