83 300D Turbo Leaking Transmission fluid

Just changed the fluid, dropped the pan and changed the filter too. Over filled it by about 2 qts and drove it. Now it is leaking a small puddle after driving. Any ideas?

Did you reduce the fluid level from the over fill condition?

If still over filled, then it is possibly blowing out excess fluid (and foam from the fluid) from the vent, then leaking down the sides of the transmission. This may go away if you reduce the fluid level to the proper reading.

If you have already reduced the fluid level, then either the transmission is still dripping fluid from where it blew out earlier, or you have blown out a seal and it will now leak until repaired.

Time will tell. I drive a 300D that slowly leaks a little bit. It is so minor that I just watch the level and top it off regularly. And I park it where it doesn't matter about the dripping fluid.

Good luck - any further questions or details please post back here.

We did reduce to the proper level. The leak is under the torque converter area, or near the front of the transmission. I thought we would drive it awhile to see if it stopped. IF it were a seal that was blown, does anyone have any ideas on what seal it may have been and how difficult it is to repair?

Thanks to all in advance!

By the way, we just successfully changed the o-rings and the grommet on the turbo drain tube and completely stopped the oil leak, thanks to the tips from this site! It was a dirty job, but easy!

Well, been driving the car and it still drip, drip, drip down the road. I am guessing I blew a seal. Any ideas what seal(s) are on the front of the transmission? Looks like it is leaking just ahead of the torque converter..and, how much to replace this seal?

Its probably the front seal. My SDL did this, and still does. You need to drop the transmission and remove the torque converter to get at it.

Even after I replaced the seal on mine it still leaks a bit.
