remote starters..not impossible?

Has anyone of us here ever really put any brain power into designing, building and testing a car starter system, be it purchased or home built?

I know that in our Diesel cars, the vacuum shut off really limits us in this.

the gears in my head are turning...

I have a remote start alarm system in my car.. Vacuum shutoff was easy--add a second ALDA switchover valve (free from junkyard) into the shutoff line, power it up with the ignition 3 wire form the alarm, just make sure the vented side is towards the IP, so it doesn't vent the vacuum source..

The only thing you need to be sure the starter has is a delay feature.

Set the delay for 5 seconds, install a vacuum valve for the shutoff solenoid and the rest is standard installation.

you know, I never really knew what that change over valve really did. Now that I do, I have some other ideas

either of you have any spare change over valves you need to get rid of?

I can grab one next time I hit the yards.. Not sure what shipping to canada would be though.. The climate control vacuum valves do the same thing. My remote starter had a wire to tap into the glow plug light, to delay the start. I had to wire up a small transistor circuit to switch the polarity though, I'm not sure about the available current, but a relay would probably work..

That's exactly the kind you need.

Just look at most gassers and you can find lots of them for the emissions systems.
