Instrument panel indicator
I don't have an owner's manual (yet) to figure out all the simple things in my car, but there's one that's bothering me.
It's the one between the windshield washer fluid and Antilock. Has a "!" in the middle of it. It comes on now when I turn on the headlights or parking lights.

Lights out!
The indicator is looking at the external lights.
You've lost a taillight, parking light, sidelight or License plate light. Check carefully for the LP light, often overlooked! Jim

If it's happening when you turn the headlights on you can rule out the back up and brake lights. It monitors all the external lights AFAIK.

And I always thought that "!" light meant the euro warning triangle was missing.....

I checked out all my lights and all seem to be operating.
Just now, the light started to stay on even if I don't have any lights switched on. What gives??

Have you pressure washed your engine bay lately? Had some similar weirdness after I had done that. Low voltage or a bad back out diode will create this also.
