AC Compressor question- 85 300DT

I recently had a drive belt failure which also took out the a/c belt. In doing so, it also apparently yanked out the electrical wires connected to the compressor. Wires are OK, but it looks like the post where they connect only has one tab to connect (there are two wires- green and tan). This compressor was replaced only about 18 mos ago and I am wondering if anyone might know if it's possible to replace this terminal block on the compressor instead of having to pony up again for a new one. Thanks.

I believe the compressor you have is the round R4 compressor.

Check to see if you didn't just pull the wires out of the connector. There should be one solid connector that pushes onto the the two tabs at the compressor. If it's the wires in back of the connector, pull the connector off the compressor and resolder on the wires.

If you broke one of the tabs off the compress itself the you have a big problem. The two tabs on the compressor connect to the electrical clutch that engages the clutch when current flows through the conductors. I think you are screwed unless you can find some way to solder a tab back on to the broken tab. There is almost no room to do that and where the connection is located is a really difficult place to work on it. Replacing the clutch will cost you as much as replaceing the compressor. It has to come off the car to do it and the system will have to be evacuated and recharged.

I think you need to expect the worse. Sorry.

Here's what you do if it's so cold your diesel fuel gels. Smear some on some toast and stay inside until it warms up outside.
