driveshaft question
Are the driveshafts from 84 300d and 84 300td interchangeable. I have access to one I need for a bad one in my 84 300d.

I would think yes, but cannot say for sure.

I think the wagon has a longer drive shaft... but I have not put them side by side myself, so I do not know.

I too am not sure. If you can locate any literature indicating the sedan and the station wagon have identical wheelbases then it is fairly safe to assume the same driveshafts. I have never heard anyone mention the wagon has a longer wheelbase myself.
With a little luck someone will have the answer for you soon. |

I've got an original set of service manuals for the W123's and although I cannot tell if you can switch driveshafts, I would have to say your chances are good! According to my books, both the 300D and the 300TD both have a wheel base of 2795cm or 110 inches. The only thing I can think of is with the wagon, you could have a difference in centre shaft support, but you would have to remove it and lay them out side by side. Hope this helps.
