Head gasket on a diesel?
I was just diagnosed as having a bad head gasket...well coolant was detected leaking and I can see where it has dried on the back of the engine on the passenger side.
I know MB gas cars are prone to these issues and I've done the work on an M103, but a 606. Is this really a head gasket issue or a leak elsewhere? The car is a 1996 E300 with 155K miles on it. thanks for your input. I looked at the oil and it was as clean as diesel oil gets (black like tar and not a chocolate milkshake). have not looked in the coolant yet and I'm not chased by a white cloud of smoke either. thanks
