Think I found my starting problem on 87 300TD, bad glow plug relay

So I'm getting my car ready to sell. Cold starts are a little rough and then it smooths out. Replaced the injectors and glow plugs, same. Then I went to start it the other morning and I hear chattering which I think is coming from the glow plug relay (005 545 45 32). Going to stick a meter on the glows tomorrow morning and see if I can catch it chattering. I'd imagine that could effect the intensity of the glow by basically pulsing it. I'm not spending $165 for a relay. May just put in a starter realy and a push button in a clean manner. Next owner can decide on the relay, I just want to clean up the starts.
Next is smooth out the shifts, a little rust repair and then its off to market. Then comes the 82 300TD.

I've considered your push button idea as well. I think it's great. That way you decide how long and when the glows come on. I always hated wasting a glow for just rolling up the power windows. Sometimes the driver is smarter than the car. I guess MB didn't plan on the user knowing how long to glow before starts.

Tom's Imports of Columbia MO Ruined the IP in changing leaky delivery valve O-Rings - Refused to stand behind his work. Mid-MO MB drivers-AVOID Tom's.
