w123/300TD wagon hazard warning triangle

Hello Everyone,

Does Mercedes not include the folding hazard warning triangle on U.S. delivered w123/300TD station wagons? It seems like they are always missing!

Does anybody have a part number for it? Can it be ordered from the MB dealer still? Thanks in advance...

The first aid kit and warning triangle were not included in any US model because US laws do not require them.

I'm sure you can order them from MB but the price is going to be very high and likely a special order item.

I own a 1987 300 TD wagon which still has its first aid kit. There are two symbols on the panel. One is a green cross and the other a small triangle. Based on that evidence, I'd say that at one time mine also included a triangle.

Look on the eBay European sites which have triangles with some frequency...

first-aid kits, yes. hazard triangle, no. unless it was a euro model.

Bought a parts car last year.......

.... a ratty 85 500SEL off of ebay.

Started to give it the lookover, and popped the trunk.

Shazam! Not only a triangle, but the bracket to hold it as well.
Now that's going straight over to my 560SEL...

I've only come across one folding triangle, they are pretty rare and fragile.

Triangles in the following:
95 E320 wagon, folding style
90 560SEL, rigid ebay bonus
83 300D, from a euro 280E I had years ago
71 250C, loose in the trunk, no provision for mounting on the car.

Wow! First time I've ever seen Lance get one wrong.

First aid kits were standard in US wagons, warning triangles were not.

I wonder if the w124 and w123 wagon hazard triangles are the same part. If so that would be easier to find...

We've had two W123 wagons that came with the folding triangles. A 1980 and either an 84 or 85 (I forget which one came with the triangle).

I've seen folding triangles at truck stops that are fairly similar to the W123 wagon ones.
