seems to me you need to get power to the aux pump in located in the rear of the car. A charged up battery should do the trick assuming the aux vac pump still works

if you can unlock the one of the front doors this should activate the pump best I can tell from the diagram and the functional description...have power to car, get in car, close door, lock and then unlock and that should actuate the rest of the locks.

you sure there's not a body in there, or is that why you want to open it in the first place?

If things get hairy, you can remove the rear seat, look for a large yellow vacuum tube, cut it, and suck on it to actuate the lock. I think there are three maybe 4 tubes there. One set is for the gas cap, the other for the lock. (I think the yellow with green is for the gas cap - but I am not sure!)
"Fix" the cuts with a small piece of standard rubber vacuum tubing.

I had the same problem with an '83 SD that I recently purchased. I tried all the keys which came with the car, but none of them would turn the lock. I looked for a cable release, but the car doesn't have one. I tried sucking and blowing into the yellow line under the back seat, without success. I tried hitting the lock with a hammer and a block of wood. I ended up drilling the lock out, and then finding that the lock was seized. If I had lubricated the lock before trying the keys, one of them might have worked.

From my search of this problem, I learned that some cars alarm systems can prevent the trunk from opening. I looked under the front passenger side carpet to see if the alarm was unplugged, and found that my car does not have an alarm.

I didn't find any bodies, but I did find a good spare tire, and a new set of jumper cables.

Since you don't have the key, have you contacted a dealership to obtain a key, based on the VIN of your car?

If you don't have the key, and your car doesn't have a cable release under the back seat, you might have a problem. If the trunk lock is in the locked position, you'll have to break something to get it open.

you don't need to be able to start it to get the vac. pump to work. You just need to put power to the car (e.g. hook up a live battery and make sure fuses are intact)...as stated these don't work like a 123..and if it did, a mityvac (as a substitute for the engine vac pump) would sort you out anyway assuming there's not a massive leak back there.

No need to maintain pressure. Just apply until you hear the lock actuators move to unlock position.
