It was done 2 weeks ago but since I was traveling, really didn't put any miles on it. Power was up noticeably on the first test drive. I put almost 400 miles on the car in 2 days driving all over New Jersey earlier this week. I went 390 miles and filled up. Still reading over 1/4 tank, it took about 14.5 gallons to fill up. 26.5 mpg ?!?!? Wow. Previous to the adjustment, I averaged 24 mpg on all highway driving in a similar manner. And the exhaust doesn't have that pungent sulfur smell anymore. Now if I'd kept the speedo under the 80mph mark more than I did, I might have broken 27.5 - 28mpg. I'm gonna try that next week when I road trip down to my sister's in Lewes, Delaware. I figure if I keep it under 3000 rpms, which works out to a max of about 72mph, I can go down and back on one tank. Is my memory failing me or is the 126 geared taller than the 123 of same vintage I owned 4 years ago ?
Replaced the 15+(?) year old Audiovox cassette head unit with a Pioneer cd/sat-ready with remote head unit and the original paper speakers front & back. I got a deal from Circuit City - head unit, Polk 4x6 fronts & Kicker 3 way 6x9's for the rear - $353 with tax. They had a Polk special - buy one set and get 50% off the second set. They showed one set of the 6x9's left but couldn't find them so the manager signed-off on the Kicker deal. The head unit was $130, the Kicker's were $149 and the Polk 4x6's were $80 - $40 after the deal. The Polks had to be trimmed with a Dremmel to fit the odd-shaped openings and sit too high due to the tweeter to bolt the grilles on properly so I have to figure out how to modify them. Since my dash is cracked in about 4 places, I may just get one of those dash covers so despised here

. I fitted the 6x9's into the storage lids on the rear shelf with 1/4" plywood supporting them. Sounds really good for old school. I bypassed the fader and ran new wiring which they gave me for free. Next is the left rear wheel bearing and right tie rod assembly.
