Finally got some bio made from wvo in the tank. Boy, does the engine like this stuff. The engine had some pre-ignition issues with D2, cured by conditioning the fuel with PS Cetane boost, which slowed the car down a freckle, but cured the pinging.

Biodiesel must have a wonderfuilly high cetane rating. The motor is as quiet as can be, except for the bad prechamber? which is more noticable than ever against a "quiet stage".

Also found leaks in the exhaust, as the biod fumes were somehow leaking into the cabin. Guess the D2 fumes were too, but I liked them and didnt really notice! Biod from wvo doesnt smell as nice to me.

At one point I said I wouldnt run the stuff in the car. BAH HUMBUG.

The car digs it. Now, my only issue is how to start brewing it, as I cant rely on my "secret friend" to provide free samples for ever.

At least for now, the WINGAS vanity plates are accurate.

Feels good riding around on non-Arab oil. REALLY good. The only thing that would feel better is riding around on fuel made from the tallow of jihadist corpses. thats an AIRRBORNE angel kiddies...

Best reason to run Bio.

I'll check it out. My secret brewer friend gave me a bunch of links to check out. For now, I'm researching a good source of wvo, adn starting to watch Ebay for a pump, valves, etc..

Only trouble is, milage may suffer as I'm driving the car harder, as I was really going easy with all the pinging going on before.

This is precisely why I purchased my E300TD in the first place, and I haven't put anything but domestic B99 in it for the last 3000 miles or so. I'm having a great time with it!

John, no issues with the W210 and electronic controls? I bought the 95 W124 specifically due to the simple mechnical systems.

BTW, the same reason I bought a MBz diesel, although I started the search for a high mpg car intially ( unfortunately I use gas in the winter up here in Buffalo , at the rate of 16.5 mpg. - that too will change ).

be careful on ebay, lots of ripoffs. Most stuff you will need can be bought for less at harborfreight/northerntool and plumbing at lowes or home depot. US Plastics if you want cone tanks, etc. Ebay is good if you're looking for a gas station style pump handle or one of those nice to haves for your setup.

I've seen loads of sites hawking the $30 HF 3/4" water pump for a 50% premium or so..what a joke.

Yes, thank you Bob. I will put toghether a parts list at my next ( and last) fill up from my secret source and start shopping accordingly. Things like the pump handle you mentioned, and a thermo-controlled immersion heater, might be hard to find at Harbor. But again, first step is a good CLEAN source(s) of wvo.

Honestly guys, if I could buy svo brewed bio at $3 a gal, I would. Becuase of the reason dukegrad98 and I mentioned for going this way. Might only be able to brew enougth to run a mix anyhow. Time constraints.

be creative and use google a lot. I got my heater from an animal feed/supply shop. it's not thermo controlled but you can probably find one that is for a bit more money..or build it yourself...anyone who sells parts under the 'biodiesel' trade description is probably selling a basic item at a premium.

Reason your not "nailing" so badly is because bio-diesel actually has a lower certane rating...

This is counter to everything I have ever been told by biodiesel expert types in the industry. What's your source?

To answer the question above, aside from slightly reduced mileage on B99, I haven't had any problems running it. One or two little leaks where I've replaced rubber and hose bits myself -- to be expected.

Negative on the cetane. And its not nailing that it cleared up, it was pinging or preignition.

The nailng sound ( its defintely #2 cylinder) is a bad prechamber I belive, a loose ball??. That sound is actually LOUDER with bio in the tank. much louder in fact. I'm assuming bio doenst atomize as well, and when faced with a bad precham,ber or loose ball, does worse.

Hmm. it may only be with WVO or SVO but overall organic products may have good lubrication. but not quite the pep as dino..

You have to understand that cetane has nothing to do with heat rate (pep). The heat rate is the amount of useable energy contained in a mass of fuel (BTU/pound). The cetane rating is related to how easily the fuel combusts under compression (sorta the opposite of octane ratings for gasoline). WVO, SVO, and BD all have a lower heat rate than dino diesel, but that's not related to the cetane rating. The other variable is the speed of combustion within the cylinder. WVO, SVO, and BD have a slower combustion speed than dino diesel resulting in a "smother" idle, sorta like retarding your IP timing a little.
