Anyone find a *cheap* alternative for injector return lines?
Anyone? Bueller?
|
Nope. You could try attaching those crazy straws so you can see the fuel twist and turn, like the lids like to do with thier sodas, or you can try the flex straws. Just a cheap idea...:idea3::D:dizzy2:

Fuel lines are not one of the best places to save money.
|
Weed eater fuel line fits perfect and lasts well
|
Cheap alternative? How cheap.
It seems to me I bought a meter of the rubber/cloth type this spring sometime and though not free the price was certainly very low, I think less then $5.00. And a meter of the stuff will go a long ways on two old 300 D's and I even gave some to my buddy Bajaman. It will probably last me many years.
|
I use polyurathane tubing for my return lines. It has lasted longer than the braided MB lines and it is almost clear.
|
um, a meter will not go a long way on TWO 5 cylinder motors... I think you need slightly more than one meter to replace all the lines on the injectors on ONE motor.
|
As I recall, I replaced all the return lines on my 617 with one meter of hose. How much cheaper could it be than the OEM hose? I think I only paid about $10 or $15 at the dealer.
|
I paid 12.00 for 50 feet of the weed eater hose...

I was able to buy cloth-wrapped viton hose for a bit less than $3/foot, and replaced all the return lines on my six-cylinder with about 42" of the stuff. On a Benz, that definitely qualifies as cheap in my book, but I'm not sure what your standard is. Plus, I've got some tubing now that ought to last a long time, even running B99.
Cheers, John |
Still Cheap
I think I did buy 2 meters of the stuff, did one car, gave some away, I think I have enough for the other car. Really not expensive anyway.
|
weed eater hose huh..... stopping at lowes on the way home......
|
What is weed eater hose?

Just get the right stuff. It's not *that* expensive and it will last you two or more years.
|
I would never want to open my hood and have somebody say "Hey, that looks like weed eater hose"!:eek:
There are places where it is smart to save $, and there are places where it is stupid to save a couple of bucks. Literally a couple. Guess which place this is....... |

thats the type of line Im talking about and personally I like that way it looks and is yellow/clear so you can see the fuel flow threw it |
NAPA carries 1/8 inch fuel line. Cheap and works well. If you run WVO you should pay the price to replace lines with something more high tech. WVO will dissolve and swell even old MB OE lines.

. I did my 82 300 SD injector return lines with NAPA 1/8 fuel line. Cost me $4 Nice thick hose, rated for fuel. Sometimes buying the cheapest stuff does wind up costing you the most. Have Fun Everyone ! RichC . |
The weed eater fuel line works like a champ and being clear is cool too. $4 for 2ft section. Probably not the cheapest by it saved me that in fuel spurtin all over the engine.
