W124 300D tock noise when braking
Hi Guys,
I've been getting close to sending my car for the local inspection. It's been a project having done large amounts of body, left rear wheel bearing, both rear lower knuckle bushings, rear shoes and springs, diesel purge, etc etc etc. I just had her out today, and I've heard a new problem. When I brake from 60 kph (40 mph approx), as I'm coming to the stop, I hear a toc-toc noise from the left front. The toc-toc is related to the speed of the car. I removed the wheel and found some play in the steering on that side. Has anyone had this problem before? I've checked the various joints and I think it *may* be coming from the steering box, but I'm really not sure. The only other clue is that i've just replaced the front pads and discs. Any help would be appreciated! |
I've tried adjusting the steering box - didn't help. I've checked everything I had off during my brake job and everything looked fine

I am now sure that the noise is coming from the box. Has anyone had any luck rebuilding them? I know there is a seal kit available, but any of the internal parts?
