Unhappy transmission problems on W201 Diesel please help

Please anyone that can help me! I have a 1987 190D 2.5 turbo and about 3 days ago with no previous problems at all with the transmission. I pulled up to a stop light, and when I took off it would not shift from 1st to 2nd. I tried to shift manually from 2nd to 3rd to drive while reving the engine to about 4000 rpm and lifting in between shifts. Of course this didn't work. after trying this several times The next thing I did was change the filter and fluid with no results. I then took the car to a small local shop and the mechanic told me he did something with the vacuum and put a can of Lucas additive in it. And it started shifting fine. After paying him a 150.00 for his trouble I drove it half way home (about 30 miles) and it started doing the same thing. So I called him back and he said the first thing I should do is try to find a remanufactured valve body. So I am asking anyone if this could cure the problem. and if so, where I could locate a valve body for a 722.413 trans?
