Before we bought our MB we had an 85 Mazda 626 157000 miles. we up
graded to an 85 300D with 176000 miles. we use to go out to breakfast
with this couple from church. when we said we bought a MB it was like,
ooooww. oooh aaaah, a Mercedes?? Then when she found out it was an
OLD one, then it was ok. but then they ended up buying our OLD Mazda.
go figure. plus she was driving an older Honda.
even today when someone sees we have a Mercedes, it`s like we are part
of the upper crust in a different league of people. hey, It`s just an old car.

so if you are worried about what people are thinking about you, forget it
because they don`t think. they just react.
Fix the old Benz, and don`t cut corners, do it right, and you will have a
much better vehicle for many years.

how much up keep is 5, 6, or 8 wives? these Mormons must make a lot
of $$$$$.

Once you get old enough, they just think you're ecentric and quit bugging you about driving old cars.

The last new one that impressed me was the maybach 57 that I rode half way across OR with last weekend. Pretty car, but I'm not sure about the two-tone paint (to much like a royce for me). Most people probably don't even know what they're seeing, that's what makes them cool. I decided not to race with him.

You should have raced him, I'm sure you could have taken him. Those things are sleepers, 0-60 is like 4 seconds. I see them with two tone, but thats an option. Paints custom with those cars, I have seen a couple in black that looked good.

I'm actualy thinking about getting into Rolls Royce next. They are built better then MB's, just not designed better. The torque of the 6.75 V8 is addicting. You should look into them, I think the older ones would be right up your ally.

LOL, this guy was just plodding along at about 80, driving himself, talking on the phone. I do like the solid colors better.

I don't know about royce, the old ones are pretty cool, but they are a little "obvious." The design of the new ones is very heavy handed, IMHO. Bentleys are a little more subtle.

The Bentley is more sporty as well. Coming back from the GTG in June I was following one on I91 for quite awhile. Both of us were doing about 90-95, they can really move.
